Solar battery rebate in Canberra
The Cheaper Home Batteries discount, worked out for each size. You claim it once per property, so the size you install is the size you claim on. Your accredited retailer takes it off your quote at the point of sale, so there is no separate claim afterwards, and the rate steps down every six months until 2030.

A second battery, and the first one fixed
The owner already had a battery from another company, installed a year earlier, and wanted a second one beside it. We inspected that first install as part of the job. Faults nobody could see at quoting turned up on the day, and we corrected them at no charge.

Retrofitting storage to an existing array depends on things only a site visit shows. The inverter already fitted, spare ways in the switchboard, where a battery can legally sit, and how far that is from the meter. Some of the companies asked to quote this job never visited the home.
I reviewed all of the companies on the ACT Government approved list for a solar battery to add to my existing solar panel system. I sought quotes from the 6 best rated companies. From the 4 quotes I received I chose SunStak. How much does a solar battery cost?
There is no single number, and the honest reason is that a published price is a price for a standard house. Four things move yours. The usable capacity you need. Whether the battery goes onto solar you already have or in with a new system. How far the wall is from the meter. And whether the switchboard has room for what is going in.
What you get from us is one written price for your house with every line in it, model numbers included, and the federal discount already taken off. If something changes after that you hear why before any work happens. It does not turn up on the invoice.
How much is the solar battery rebate?
It is arithmetic, so here is the arithmetic. Take the battery's usable capacity, multiply it by the federal deeming factor for the month it goes in, and that is a number of certificates. Multiply those by what a certificate is worth and that is the discount.
Using a factor of 6.8 and our certificate price of $37, eligible capacity is calculated in tiers: the first 14 kWh of usable capacity counts in full, the next 14 kWh at 60%, anything above 28 kWh at 15%. Nothing above 50 kWh of usable capacity counts at all.
Run it on whatever battery you are being quoted and you should land on the same number we do. If a quote will not show you its working, that is the thing to ask about.
The accredited retailer handles the certificates, so you never lodge a claim or touch a form.

Is there an ACT battery rebate?
Not a cash one. The ACT's Next Generation Energy Storage rebate closed in 2023. Today an ACT household gets the federal discount off the invoice and can borrow the rest.
Up to $20,000 for new applicants from 1 July 2026, at 3% interest over up to 10 years. Households already in the scheme stay on the earlier $15,000 cap.

New South Wales ones. The federal discount works the same way, and the ACT loan isn't open to you.
Home Energy Saver: up to $15,000 at 0% interest, for households under a $210,000 income test.

What size solar battery do I need?
Size it off your evening. What matters is the kilowatt-hours the house uses after the sun goes down, because that is what a battery has to cover. It is already in your bill.
Bigger is not always better. Extra capacity may go unused, and larger batteries receive a smaller federal discount per added kilowatt hour.
How much of your home will it run in a blackout?
Your supply type decides. Single phase: whole home Three phase: partial home. Whole home backup runs everything the battery can carry, and a smaller arrangement runs nominated circuits such as the fridge, the lights, the internet and a few power points. Your switchboard sets which, and we settle it at the design. Changeover is automatic, and your roof recharges the battery the next day.
Will my switchboard need upgrading?
Sometimes, and your switchboard decides. It needs spare ways for the new circuit breakers, room for the equipment going in, and a meter position the cable can reach. Older boards are where this comes up. If yours needs work, you'll see it on your quote as a priced line with the reason beside it.
How long does the network connection approval take?
Your network operator decides that, and in Canberra it is Evoenergy. We lodge the application, and the timing after that is theirs. Evoenergy publishes no timeframe, so we will not quote you one. Ask us where yours is up to at any time.
What warranty comes with it, and who honours it?
10 years, unlimited cycles on the battery, and the warranty is Tesla's. It follows the unit, so it does not depend on your installer still trading in year eight. The workmanship on the install is ours, and that is where you call first.
