The Cheaper Home Batteries discount, worked out for each size. You claim it once per property, so the size you install is the size you claim on. Your accredited retailer takes it off your quote at the point of sale, so there is no separate claim afterwards, and the rate steps down every six months until 2030.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have single phase or three phase power?
The main switch in your switchboard or meter box tells you. Three switches joined together is three phase power, and one switch on its own is single phase. Three phase installation adds $240. On three phase your charger can deliver up to 22 kW, or 7.4 kW on single phase, depending on your car.
Will a Tesla Wall Connector charge my car if it isn't a Tesla?
Yes, if your car has a Type 2 charging port, and most electric cars sold in Australia do. Your charger's cable stays attached (Type 2, tethered), so there's nothing extra to buy. For Tesla drivers, the button on the charging handle also opens the car's charge port.
What's included in the price?
Your installation price includes the RCD (safety switch) your charger needs. Your cable is $160 for the first 5 metres and $32 a metre after that, and your charger is $770 if we supply it. Every price includes GST.
What happens if my price changes once you've seen my switchboard?
Your quote starts from the price you saw here. If your home needs more work, such as a full switchboard or a cable that has to run outside, you'll see it as its own line on your quote. We explain the cost and get your approval before any work begins.
How long does the installation take, and do I need to be home?
Most charger installations are done in one visit. Someone needs to be home to let us in and show us where you park. Your power is off for part of the visit while we connect your charger at the switchboard.
I already have a charger. Can you install it?
Yes. Choose 'I have my own charger' in the calculator and your price drops the charger line. If it isn't a Tesla Wall Connector, tell us the make and model on the form and we'll check it before we quote.
Can I charge my car from my solar?
Yes. While your solar is producing, your car can use that power before your home buys from the grid, and you can set charging times in the Tesla app. With Powerwall and a compatible Tesla, Charge on Solar charges your car with your excess solar. We can install your charger alongside solar or a battery in one visit.
